OCR Text Recognition

Metadata Pro subscription required for this feature.

Instructions

1 - Choose an Image

You can import a photo to the Metadata app from your Photo Library or from iCloud Drive. You can also import an image using drag and drop on the iPad.

The photos that you open in the Metadata app stay on device and are not saved or uploaded to the cloud by the Metadata app. All data shown in the app is processed on device, including the OCR Text Recognition feature.

2 - Navigate to the OCR Data Card

Once you choose a photo, the app will automatically process the image using the OCR Text Recognition feature. To view the results, swipe horizontally from right to left (or scroll vertically if using the overlay view mode on iPad or Mac), until you see the 'Extracted Text' card.

If you do not have an active Metadata Pro subscription, you will see the In-App Purchase card before you can view the extracted text card.

3 - View Extracted Text

The extracted text will be automatically displayed in a text view, separated by a line break for each item of text within the image.

4 - Export the Extracted Text

You can then use the shortcut buttons on the 'Extracted Text' card to copy the text to the clipboard on your device for copy and paste, or use the built in sharing options to send the text by message, email, social media or any other messaging apps installed on your device.
